The Bribris are one of the oldest indigenous peoples of Costa Rica. They live mainly in the southern Caribbean region, particularly around Talamanca, near Puerto Viejo and Cahuita. Deeply connected to nature, the Bribris preserve ancestral traditions based on respect for the earth, plants, and forest spirits. Their culture is passed down orally through stories, medicinal knowledge, and traditional practices such as cacao cultivation and chocolate making. Visiting the Bribri community offers an authentic immersion into a simple and sustainable way of life, deeply rooted in Costa Rican culture.
