It’s a cultural, natural, and historical experience that allows you to discover the history of Caribbean cacao and its connection to local biodiversity.

Chocolate-themed guided tour

Discover the world of cacao and chocolate by visiting a century-old plantation and an active plantation, where you will learn how cacao is grown in harmony with nature and taste the fresh fruit. The tour continues at the Afro-Caribbean museum to explore the history of cacao, the old processing machines, and the complete transformation process from bean to chocolate. Visitors taste cacao at different stages and finish with a chocolate tasting. The experience also includes a visit to tropical flower gardens, medicinal plants, the U SULE indigenous museum, and wildlife observation, including sloths, monkeys, and lizards. Guided tour in Spanish and English.

The stunning natural setting of Cacao Trail Bole offers a wide range of activities, from strolling among unique tropical botanical collections to bird watching, while enjoying interactive contact with the local cacao culture. The Cacao Trail Bole farm, spanning over 12 hectares, benefits from a strategic location between Cahuita and Puerto Viejo, near Cahuita National Park and its pristine beaches, with easy access from the main road. Our mission is to highlight the region’s biodiversity while dedicating ourselves to research and preservation of the cultural cacao traditions passed down by local communities.
